2011 what an interesting journey….
I belong to the South African Council for Business Women (SACBW). Each year, Sanlam has a competition aimed at identifying the business woman of the year. Nominated to enter by local business associates, I accepted, and entered in the corporate category, which includes ladies who are employed predominantly in Financial and Banking institutions.
Many Estate Agents belong to this council, and the nomination was triggered in May, when I was honoured to draw the winning ticket for one of our local Estate Agents to go to the NAR Conference in Anaheim, California!
I am proud to say that I have received excellent feedback and support from my local Estate Agents. They have unofficially crowned me the “Queen of motivations”. They know that I will spend time on each new purchase in order to fully understand the client’s needs. No transaction is ever too big, small, or complicated to receive my attention. I find it difficult not to brag a bit about SA Home Loans to Estate Agents who currently don’t work with me. I know that all they have to do is put us to the test, and they will be convinced by our amazing service and offerings. I have been working with some loyal Estate Agents for the past fifteen years, and regularly receive new Agents on board.
We can never please everybody all of the time, although our Agents are always happy to receive superior service, regular feedback, and registrations that happen quickly. It certainly also helps that SA Home Loans still offers 95% loans, and that we are experts at understanding self employed applications. Our approval rate is excellent and recently one of my agents, from a leading agency, who gives me most of her business, received the award for the highest registrations for two months in a row!
Back to the competition....the judging process was stringent, as we had to produce a portfolio including a business plan and a budget. This was then presented to a panel of judges who interviewed each contestant for about thirty minutes. We also did a five minute camera interview. Another lady from Nelspruit (Entrepreneur and Corporate) joined me in becoming a finalist at the national level, both of us in the property industry.
On the 27 of September 2011 we went for our final judging session to Centurion in Pretoria. Sadly, I did not receive the crown as “Business Winner of the Year”, but was privileged to make it into the top three nationally. It has been such a rewarding experience, and it is clear why the logo of the competition is “unlocking potential”.
Being a finalist in SACBW was really just a result of what I like to do on a day to day basis. SA Home Loans has given me the foundation to offer excellence in all fields to you, the Estate Agent, and I look forward to being of service.
